The most important part of Cats Protection work is caring for cats/kittens in need but this cannot be done without the money to pay for expenses such as Vets fees, food and litter. Macclesfield Cats Protection like all other branches is self sufficient, relying solely on Fund-raising to help cats and kittens in our care

Raising money is an ongoing process which ranges from having strategically placed collection boxes, giving talks, accepting donations when cats and kittens are re-homed, attending events to running market stalls at the outdoor market place in Macclesfield.

Fundraising should be fun even if it is at times hard work!. We have a happy team of helpers on the market stalls, of all ages. Our youngest helper is 8 years old and she is brilliant. The market stall is very enjoyable especially if you like people. There are always regular customers who like to come along and have a chat, some people want to talk about their cat/s and other various problems they may be having.

We can offer financial help and practical advice to people who might not otherwise consider having their cats neutered.

COLLECTION BOXES

There are collection boxes to help raise funds for Cats Protection at various shops and outlets throughout the borough. There is a quite a bit of work looking after collection boxes. Firstly we have to make sure that the box will be safe as one has been stolen and one has had all the money stolen out of it.

The most lucrative box in Macclesfield is at Mary’s Toffee Shop in the Indoor Market. Pets at Home are very good supporters to our branch and we also benefit by a box at the entrance for donated cat food and litter.
There are boxes at a laundrette, 2 pubs, various shops, one veterinary practice in Macclesfield and two in Leek.
All in all, the collection boxes are a good way of raising money and people know that every penny we raise is spent on local cats in need.
